The
project The Villa of the Entranced emerged during my five
month stipend at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin. The old Villa,
situated in the quiet former German-Jewish district of Grunewald,
today is an enclave of the most outstanding academics from the world
over. The place has its own rhythm completely different from that
of real, outside time – it is a threshold of a different reality.
The Villa of the Entranced is a recording of illusory images –
of thoughts and voices. Entering into the projection of the facade,
we cross the boundary dividing the external, real world from that
of the interior, illusory world. The projections do not have a linear
construction or time sequence. This is history seen from the inside;
it is an interiorisation of looking at things. The camera does not
objectify; it is another layer in the multiplication. The sound-track
is a cacophony of sounds, of archived lectures, of fragmentary noises
created by the building and its inhabitants (e.g. the lecutre by Robert
Trivers of 9th December 2008 “The Evolution of Deceit and Self-deception”,
a concert by Toshio Hosokawy,Luc Steels, Kahrin Mölling,Thomas
Metzinger, Donald Berger, Yurij Andruchowycz, Bernhard Waldenfels
and many others).
Projekt Willa Zauroczonych powstawal podczas mojego pieciomiesiecznego
stypendium w Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin. Stara Willa polozona w
wyciszonej dawnej niemiecko-zydowskiej dzielnicy Grunewald, obecnie
jest enklawa najwybitniejszych naukowców z calego swiata. Miejsce
to ma swój wlasny rytm, kompletnie odmienny od realnego, zewnetrznego
czasu - to próg do innej rzeczywistosci. Willa zauroczonych
jest zapisem iluzorycznych obrazów – mysli i glosów.
Wchodzac w projekcje fasady, przekraczamy umowna granice dzielaca
swiat zewnetrzny - realny od swiata wewnetrznego - iluzji. Projekcje
pozbawione sa linearnej konstrukcji i czasu. To historia widziana
z wnetrza - to interioryzacja ogladu rzeczy. Kamera nie obiektywizuje,
jest kolejnym powieleniem. Sciezka dzwiekowa to kakofonia dzwieków,
zarchiwizowanych wykladów, fragmentarycznych odglosów,
które wytworzyl budynek i jego mieszkancy (np. wyklad Roberta
Triversa z 9 grudnia 2008 „The Evolution of Deceit and Self-deception”,
koncert Toshio Hosokawy, Luca Steels, Kahrin Mölling,Thomasa
Metzinger, Donalda Berger, Yurij Andruchowycz, Bernharda Waldenfels
i wielu innych).
