Svetlana - Moscow, 24th February 2005

I saw Svetlana begging in the doorway of the Orthodox Church on the Red Square. She was full of calm and concentration. To the people giving her a handout she offered a prayer in return. Her ordinary day is: prayer – begging – prayer… Night brought a change – anxiety and uncertainness – will she sleep calmly on the Pavilicky Station, will the Police chase everyone out for a few hours? Will she meet her friends?
Regardless of all those dilemmas and the uncertain reality she did not lose her cheerfulness. (...)
